Digital Camera: Which One Is Best For Me

You made some important decisions. You picked out the computer that will do everything you want it to do. The basic minimum is usually the computer, monitor, speakers that were included, and the all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. The keyboard and mouse are connected. The speakers are connected. After you explore the system and all it has to offer, you are likely to want a digital camera.

Depending on what online activities you enjoy there are other accessories. Headphones with built-in-microphone to call friends and chat hands-free. Perhaps a web cam if you have distant relatives you’ll never see any other way. But the one thing that allows you to reach out to all of them at once is a digital camera. With it you can put pictures of your life online, make a list of all the people you want to send them to and with one click you send an email with pictures attached to the entire group. Then by saving the email list you simply send new pictures to the same group again and again. You can stay in touch without spending a great deal of time.

The online Photo Album can serve the same purpose. Creating one is easy. You can then send the URL to all your friends and relatives. If this is something you will enjoy – the next step is to buy a digital camera. There are enough choices to make your head spin. It can be tempting to choose one with all the settings that you won’t know how to use. It’ll seem practical to buy the cheapest model as a learning tool. Either of these choices may be wrong for you.

Before you rush off to the camera store or ebay there are many points to consider.

What level of experience do you have.

What pictures do you plan to take.

How often will you use the camera.

Will you use all the complex settings.

What brand will function with your computer.

How much money do you want to spend.

If you have never taken many pictures and plan to take them on holidays or vacations only you’ll choose differently than the computer geek who can’t wait to get his hands on all the bells and whistles of that new D-SLR. It has all the features and accessories used by professional photographers. Needless to say, the high price tag also.

At the other end of the spectrum is the economy model that you might consider a good starter camera. You might imagine yourself learning to use it then upgrading when you have more experience. If you go this route it is like tossing $50 or so out the car window. You put batteries in and thats all it tells you how to do. There may be no instructions, no manual to describe the features and no helpline or chatline to use when you are stumped. Among the other bad features, the viewing screen will be too small.

Your journey from noobie to expert photographer is likely to be more successful using a model that falls somewhere between the two extremes. If you have an upcoming event and need a camera for it, why not buy one of the disposable ones. Then give yourself adequate time to research cameras. That way you make an informed choice based on the criteria listed above.

What Should You Look For In Buying An HDTV?

If you are a person who likes to upload and download videos of hot cars and hot babes then you should take a look at the video footage on Motorsport Mad. This is a site where a bunch of people that were lucky enough to have their cameras on at just the right moment have decided to share their footage, as well as extra footage that some of the professionals have decided to share. This video community has decided that it is everybody’s right to join in with video sharing. It doesn’t matter what you are shooting, as long as it has hot babes or vehicular action, you can show the rest of the world what you’ve got.

There are amateurs that just happened to have their hand held on for a really intense crash. You can find newscast footage from some of the best police chases around. There are onboard cams of people that have decided that they were going to do something that they thought the rest of the world should see. Then there are the onboard cams of professional drivers racing around the track of the Indy 500. You have shots from the BIG trucks racing and shots of go-kart races. Some of them are just simply stunts that someone thought shouldn’t be kept quiet. You can enjoy the advantages of video sharing as you watch other people that have decided that they wanted to go down in some history book for doing something incredible and sometimes totally stupid.

Sure, a few of the videos are obviously staged. Some of the vids that are staged get better yet when the action didn’t quite go the way it was planned. There is always the moment when the hero realizes that things are going to go wrong. It takes a lot of sheer chance to have the camera rolling when that moment occurs. Other times, it’s just reporting by the news media that happened to have the camera on the action when the real action occurred. Maybe you are the photographer who was viewing an action scene when the excitement got overwhelming. If so, why not share the video results with other fans who love to watch anything to do with motorsport activities?

Then there are the videos of the hottest babes on the planet showing us just how much they like cars, trucks, go-karts, motorcycles and each other. There are flicks of babes washing cars, and each other. They have ones of the dancing girls at the car shows and some of the promotion girls at shows and races. They have some of the hottest women in the world behind the wheel of their machine. If you watch enough of them you may even see certain body parts come uncovered. There are vids of girls that get paid to look good with a machine, but the best ones are the ones where a girl walks up to a machine, you can tell that it makes her quiver as she starts to caress the curves and rub against the body.

So again, if you’re into cool cars hot babes and you like video sharing, then this site is a must. Check out the web site action, you may never leave.

Experience smart mobility with HTC devices

We have seen and experienced a remarkable evolution since 1990’s in the mobile device market. Among these, HTC is a popular name that has been quickly taking over the market for mobile phones. Founded in 1997, Taiwan based HTC (High Tech Computer Corp) is the World’s leading manufacturer of Windows mobile devices. They design, manufacture and market innovative, feature rich Smartphone and PDA Phone devices.

HTC devices carry the unique tradition of providing “Smart mobility” to everyone. They have made a great progress in a very short time by introducing a wide range of popular Smartphones, Pocket PCs and finally now Ultra mobile PC. Another major achievement made in the year 2007 was its alliance with Google Android. Looking at the rising demand of HTC devices, they are expected to generate 20 percent growth rate for 2008 as they hope to continue building their own brand to drive sales.

Differentiating itself from the rest of the competitors, HTC recently came up with its new TouchFLO technology embedded in HTC Touch that allows users to use their fingertips to launch applications and make phone calls. Other than being well known for its Smartphones, HTC has launched some highly admired Pocket PCs such as Touch Dual and HTC Touch Cruise. HTC Cruise is integrated with GPS capabilities so that the device users can easily “cruise” with it when they are out for travel. Their next addition HTC Shift is the first Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) released by HTC. The Shift combines the power of Windows Vista and advanced wireless connectivity into an innovative and compact design that creates a new paradigm for mobile computing.

HTC is one of the fastest growing companies in the mobile device market. HTC Advantage is another new release that delivers extreme portability by leveraging the mobile office strengths of Windows Mobile 6 and advanced wireless connectivity in one of the smallest mobile computer designs available. On exploring the progress made in the Smartphone market, HTC S710 is the first Smartphone with a stylish slide out QWERTY keyboard. It is packed with lots of innovative capabilities such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, email, multimedia, Windows mobile 6 and a lot more.

HTC’s devices are ideal for enterprise customers because of their flexibility by which company-personalized software and user interfaces can be easily integrated by the supplier. There is variety of third party applications available in the market, ranging from utility to business, lifestyle to entertainment, travel to health, all designed to enhance HTC’s abilities. Some prominent in-built applications are voice, email, SMS, internet access, data communications and electronic diary/calendar/personal organizer and more.

HTC devices are rapidly gaining popularity but they still have to face a constant challenge of competing with leading manufacturers like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson in the years to come. In the end, looking at the progress and capabilities of these devices, we can say that HTC has all the growing trend of becoming the next sensation among users.

A free laptop for students is a great idea. They need to save money and their on campus rooms are often very small, so a laptop or notebook computer makes perfect sense.

Beware of any companies offering a free computer for doing nothing, or having to look at lots of adverts. There is usually a catch. But there are a few very good deals out there if you can make the deal work for you.

First of all, there is no such thing as a free dinner, or laptops either. “free” in this case means included in the deal. You still win, because these types of offers are usually meant to entice you to sign up as a customer of another service. The companies can afford to give you a laptop at cost price, because they are making money on the other services they provide, and you probably wouldn’t have signed up unless you got the free computer!

This is my checklist after reviewing the deals around, and finding what I think is the best cost free laptop.

1 – you either want or already pay for broadband internet access.

2 – you have a phone line, preferably BT and pay BT for the privilege

3 – you have gas or electricity connected to your house and you pay for it

4 – you want a laptop

If you meet all the above then you simply transfer the money you spend to another company. Gas and electricity is exactly the same as you use now with the same pipes and same people that repair things if you have a problem. If you change your phone over it is exactly the same line but cheaper. If you change, then Broadband may be different but the company I found actually rate in the top 5 for service anyway.

So if you meet the criteria and fancy getting a computer to give to a son / daughter going to University as a student, or you are a student actually renting / sharing a house what should you look out for?

First of all look at the length of the contract. 2 years is normal, above that it could be a bit restrictive.

Secondly, look at the postage and packing costs. They all seem to be around the 30 mark, so don’t overpay.

Thirdly, look at what the clause is for finishing early. You shouldn’t want to give up really, but if you do you need to know upfront what it will cost you.

Fourthly, what happens if the equipment breaks down. I’m only aware of one company that offers a warranty for the laptop as long as you use the services. This is obviously great for students you rely on the computer for their education.

These are my free laptop for students notes and ideas. Good luck

iPod Vs. Zune: Music and Video Download Sites

There are many folks that hate both Apple and Microsoft portable media products.
Apple makes iPod an Microsoft makes Zune.Fortunately for the consumer, there are other good portable media players
out there now but do not have the same visibility as Apple and Microsoft products.
Discussion about these other portable media players like SanDisk’s Sansa series and Creative’s Zen series devices are beyond the scope of this article. This article is about basic iPod and Zune similarities and differences.
In addition, sources for purchasing music online for iPod and Zune will be briefly discussed.
The iPod is a portable media players designed and marketed by Apple and released to the public in 2001.
Currently, as a digital audio player, the iPod is the best-selling music player in history.
Zune is Microsoft’s digital audio player, released in 2006, directly competing with Apple’s iPod.

Each of these portable media players deliver what it was intended to do which is to play music or audio, display images, and play video. Each has their pros and cons.
There are many Zune and IPod similarities and I will list major ones.
They each have the same starting price of around $249, disk storage, picture capacity, screen resolution, and aspect ratio.
They play audio, pictures, and video. They have USB connection (to another device, typically a computer), battery, and similar battery life. Both devices support MP3, MP4, M4A, M4B (for audio), and MOV (for video) file formats.
The Zune favors Windows Media Audio (WMA) while iPod has its protected AAC format. When it comes to exchanging files, you will need software tools to convert your iTunes files to MP3 or convert Zune WMA files to MP3.
Both systems support JPGs (for still images) and MPGs (for video).
There are advantages that Zune has over iPod. Approximately 60 hours more video can be stored in the 30GB version.
Zune has a larger screen size and is capable of portrait mode display.
Zune has wallpaper, FM radio, wireless connectivity, and faster battery charge.
Zune Plays WMA audio formats and WMV video formats.
It has one more standard case color: brown! There are advantages that iPod has over Zune.
iPod plays games, is compatible with the Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV audio formats.
It plays H.264, M4V, MP4, MOV, MPEG-4 video formats. It is slightly smaller and lighter than Zune.
The iPod software works on PC and Mac. Zune only works with PCs.
The primary websites for music downloads are iTunes Store for iPod and Zune Marketplace for Zune.
Both sites offer music downloads of 0.99 cents per song. With Zune Marketplace, you can buy a monthly subscription for $14.99 a month for unlimited downloads as long as you have a subscription.

But there are other online music stores out there so you are not limited to Apple and Microsoft. Do an online search for “online music stores” and determine what works for you. WRITTEN BY Argee Gallamoza zune

Dotcom-Monitor Adds Video Streaming Monitoring Service

Plymouth, MN – (12/10/2007) – Dotcom-Monitor, the leader and innovator in advanced website monitoring services, announces real-time video stream functionality monitoring, a new option for its innovative and indispensable website monitoring service.

Dotcom-Monitor, a leading web site monitoring company, announced a new monitoring service today that assists corporations in the video streaming market and increases the stability and effectiveness of their video content services. This video stream monitoring service directly impacts the video streaming market that was worth an estimated $600 million in 2006 as reported by Research and Markets, a market research group based in Ireland. Most companies that provide video on their websites require their streaming content to be available 24/7 to attract visitors, serve advertisements, and provide informational or instructional materials. Competing in the Internet’s world market necessitates the highest quality with minimal interruption of streams. Dotcom-Monitor assists corporations in maintaining an edge over their competition through Quality of Service (QoS) assurance.

Simple and Comprehensive Media Monitoring

Application of Dotcom-Monitor’s services is nearly effortless. Corporations provide the URL and specifications of their streaming content, and Dotcom-Monitor consistently ascertains its performance. Businesses specify the parameters for notification, such as connection timeout in seconds, acceptable buffering time, and expected bps (bits per second) rate. This information is entered into a sophisticated monitoring system, and then the specified site is monitored from 12 strategically located worldwide stations.

Monitoring Streaming Content

Sites that provide numerous pages of streaming content will benefit most from the addition of real-time video stream functionality to Dotcom-Monitor’s service package. The monitoring service is especially beneficial to sites with a tremendous amount of content that is difficult to monitor. Dotcom-Monitor’s service, however, can make this task seamless. Dotcom-Monitor keeps track of multiple performance metrics, such as Connection time, Buffering Time, Received Packages, Buffering Packages, Frame Rate and Average Bytes per Second. By analyzing those metrics one can determine quality of the service over periods of time and if necessary make needed adjustments/

Entire Suite of Services

Video monitoring is just one facet of the complete services package provided by Dotcom-Monitor. Its success is a direct result of its comprehensive and sophisticated systems and analytical capabilities. Rather than a typical connectivity test, Dotcom-Monitor’s services produce an environment of dependable website QoS, which is a critical component for a successful online business.

Even if a site’s appearance and performance appear to be acceptable from one browser, access may be difficult elsewhere. Dotcom-Monitor uses 12 monitoring stations around the world to ensure that access to a site is not impeded from any location.

By subscribing to Dotcom-Monitor’s services, corporations can feel confident that their online infrastructure is up and running, no matter where the site is accessed. Corporations that are alerted to problems will use their own resources to solve identified issues, but they will be able to address complications immediately and directly. Extensive reporting in real time, using easy-to-understand graphical charts that describe performance and variations, will offer a further advantage.

Instant Notification

Dotcom-Monitor’s services enable clients to choose not only a preferable means of notification but also the appropriate people in the corporation to alert, notifying them by telephone, pager, or email when there is any degradation of streaming content or any other site issue. Alerts are issued immediately, so that problem solving can commence as quickly as possible. Dotcom-Monitor acts as an insurance policy on the uptime and performance of critical media content, an assurance that most companies cannot afford to go without. Any business that relies on the Internet and must validate QoS and Service Level Agreement requirements can do so easily and inexpensively by implementing the tools offered by Dotcom-Monitor.

Digital Camera Review

There are so many models of digital cameras available in today’s market, that it becomes a rather difficult task to pick the best buy among so many options. Perhaps a few steps should be taken into consideration when choosing the right camera. Will the camera be for daily use, or just for special occasions like birthdays, family reunions, etc. Will the price of the camera make much difference on the pocket?

Assuming that price is not an issue, one should choose a well known major brand camera and if possible, go for the latest model and with the highest number of mega pixels available. The higher the mega pixels, the better the picture will be specially if there is an intention of having photo enlargements quite often. A good quality optical zoom lens will also make a big difference. Choose a camera which comes with a battery that holds a good charge, this way you can enjoy lots of picture taking without having to be worried when the battery charge will come down.

The range of features available make a digital camera very cost effective and more than likely you will be able to find the right camera suited to satisfy your needs.

If you enjoy printing enlargements of your photographs, you may want to pay close attention to the printing size and what is required in mega pixels for you to have good quality results. For you to have an idea of the amount of mega pixels required for most commonly used size of prints, refer to the chart below:

For photos 2×6 inches – 2 mega pixels
For photos 5×7 inches – 3 mega pixels
For photos 8×10 inches -7 mega pixels
For photos 11×14 inches – 14 mega pixels
For photos 16×28 inches – 28 mega pixels
For photos 20×30 inches – 54 megapixels

The handling and design also matters and the lightweight ones are much nicer to carry around. Choose a camera that is user-friendly and make sure that you have a good local technical assistance in case you may run into problems with it.

There are several advantages of having a digital camera instead of the old traditional film camera. First of all, there are no films to be purchased ever. You make take dozens, perhaps hundreds of photos and instantly delete the ones you don’t like, or that did not came well into focus and just keep the best ones. You may load them into your computer album, record them and you may view your favorite photos from you camera or from your television set. Some digital cameras also come with a recording device that allows you to record special events and replay them immediately after recording

Digital cameras take pictures that are stored in digital media. It is possible to select, save or delete photos without any cost whatsoever. The photos are usually stored in media cards into the hundreds, meaning that you can take as many pictures as you like before you run out of space. Also in most digital cameras, the user can view the pictures on the LCD screen, which will allow him to pick the best ones.

No wonder that digital cameras became so popular and accessible item to almost everyone. It became a must to have one nowadays and even cell phone cameras are getting better everyday with noticeable improvements in quality of picture taken. The earlier models of cell phone cameras were somewhat limited as far as picture quality is concerned comparing to the ones we find on today’s market. The mega pixels are increasing constantly and so the quality of the cameras. If a person needs to carry both at the same time, maybe a cell phone with a digital camera built in will be an interesting option to consider

If you have not bought yet a digital camera, maybe this the right time to do so, considering the manufactures are offering so many new models with new features at bargain prices. It is wise to compare the several models among different manufacturers and also the prices from traditional and online stores. Make sure you do your research right, and most likely you will find the digital camera you are looking for.

With the rage of video enabled MP3 and digital media players such as iPods, downloading videos for personal offline use has become increasingly popular. Some popular video sharing sites include Youtube, Blip.tv, DailyMotion, and Google Video.

Traditionally, it is simply a 2 step process: extract the file, then converting it.

Step 1 – Extracting the FLV File

The file format is FLV or Adobe Flash Video. There are several methods to extract this from the Internet.

Extract from your Temporary Internet files in your browser. The easiest way is after viewing a YouTube file, you can go to your Temporary Internet files in your browser settings options. In Internet Explorer, it is usually located in C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files and search for the *.FLV file, then copy & paste to another directory. This can be a pain if you are trying to download a large file, as you have to wait until the download buffer is complete.

If you can’t wait, an alternate method is using www.YouTubeX.com (note the X after YouTube)

Go to the YouTube website and find the URL or permalink for the video you wish to download and copy the shortcut. Then, go to YouTubeX, paste the URL to the site, let it “load” and click download. Save the file with an appropriate meaningful name and a *.FLV extension

Step 2 – Converting FLV to MP4 for your iPod

The file format for iPods is MP4.

Before you convert the file, view the file on your computer to make sure it worked. Remember, the video is quite small at 320×240 resolution, but you can view it in 2X mode. You can download the free player from FLV player

To convert a FLV file to MP4 (for iPods), WMV, MPEG-2, AVI, etc., here are 2 easy & free programs:

WinFF is a frontend for FFmpeg that runs on Windows XP and Linux. It will convert most any video file that FFmpeg will convert.
SUPER, which stands for Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer. This is a GUI frontend to ffmpeg, mencoder, mplayer, ffmpeg2theora video converters.

Once converted, you simply copy this file to your device by synchronizing it with your firewire cable.

An Alternative One-Stop Method

A much easier 1-step wizard is to use the Internet Video Converter. Here is a quick summary of this free software:

free for private and professional usage
Download videos from over 50 websites like Youtube, Blip.tv, DailyMotion, Google Video etc.
Convert videos between major formats (Mpeg – VCD/SVCD/DVD compliant, DV, Quicktime, Windows Media, Xvid, H264, 3GP, PSP, iPod, Flash video (FLV or SWF) that you extracted from above
A video player is integrated for playing all videos
Rotate videos taken from digital camera
Extract soundtrack from video

Now, all you have to do is upgrade your iPod with a larger hard drive and larger video display!
