DO NOT BUY - junk/fails after 12 mos w/ no Samsung support
Bought this player at the end of November 2008 along with a Samsung 52" HD LCD TV. Played all discs w/o problems for the past year - picture and audio quality was great on all discs until 1 month ago. Now player will only play blue-ray discs - which from some reviews I've seen it's lucky to do that. Attempts to play non-blu-ray discs present a "no disc" error. Have researched issue with Samsung & called Samsung support - followed their directions to upgrade firmware and reset settings to factory defaults - with no success. Samsung's remedy is for me to send it in to get it fixed at a cost of approx 0 !? (ridiculous since I can buy a brand new current unit from them or other manufacturuers that price!!!)

This issue is a known problem by Samsung yet they refuse to resolve it. Their forums have numerous complaints on this issue yet no remedy is offered to successfully resolve this problem - and responses/help just stops. They should have a single area/forum to focus on this problem but they do not. Their ignorance of this widespread issue w/ their product is criminal.

I am bitterly disappointed w/ tech support from Samsung & will not be buying any more of their products - back to Sony for me.

Can play only Blu-Ray disks and nothing else
After looking at the reviews, I was relieved to see that I'm not the only one who got screwed. My player plays only and I mean only Blu-Ray disks. Not one DVD works in this thing. I mean it is a Blu-Ray player, but come on! I lost a chunk of change and will never buy Samsung again.

I will never buy another Samsung again
Had problems with this player as soon as we took it out of the box. Every movie we put in there has a problem somewhere during the duration of the movie. I will never buy another Samsung product again.

This is terrible
This player will not play all blue Ray disks, even with all the firmware updates. DO NOT BUY IT!

Quality and Service Not That Good
I had bought this player back in November 2009. And I had more problems playing the Blu Ray DVD's than I ever wanted. First, as newer DVD's come out, you always have to check for new Firmware, which you have to always update your player with. Now, a few days after my 3 month warranty for labor expired, my Blu Ray player freezes on Blu Ray discs or has issues with not able to read a Blu Ray disc. But it plays a regular DVD fine. And on top of that, the player gets hot. After calling for service, for a 3 month old machine, they want to charge me over for the labor to fix a new machine, while the parts are free and there was nothing they can do. This is so absurd that a new machine can break so fast. Not happy with the player or Samsungs customer Service.

Died after having it about 2 years
mine just died tonight after so many issues with it recently for the past month, volume had to be on 70 to hear it with blue ray movies but regular movies were fine.so tonight went to put the movie in crank 2 blue ray and the little window was so tiny i could hardly see it,and then it would not play and then i played the movie and then screen was so tiny,i mean very tiny,so i tried to eject it and there was issues with it,i tried everything. I even hooked it up compnent cable and that did not work,so needless to say,its time for the grave for this sony blue ray player. it did last 2 years but still,i took care of very well .I paid 400.00 plus tax for mine almost 2 years agop,so i used it alot, but come on..ridicouls.so never again with sony, never ..anyhow i would not buy this product,it does not have new updates and no netflix etc.well sadly enough to admit time to go back to my regular dvd player, good thing i did not sell old one LOL..

Stops being able to play Blu-ray discs
I've had my BDP-S350 for about a year now, and in that time I've used it infrequently at best. It now, inexplicably, refuses to recognize any Blu-ray disc I put in. Standard DVDs play fine, but BDs do not, and it's a problem I found is documented on AV forums and the reviews on Sony's own site. Most guesses are that the blue lasers are unreliable, as it seems to be a problem consistent across multiple firmware updates. Additionally, I didn't change my firmware between when I last played a BD disc and now.

For a player as expensive as this one, it seems to have an incredibly short lifespan. If you waste your money on this, expect to be buying a new player soon after.

Good Player For the Money.
This player is great value for the money. I have owned mine for a little over a year now and it has worked flawlessly as far as playing regular blu-ray and Dvd movies is concerned. My only gripe is that despite repeated firmware updates the player still cannot seem to decode the so-called BD-Live contents even when the disc menu clearly shows it is available. I hooked mine permanently to my DSL Modem and it downloads and installs updates automatically whenever it is available. It even recently downloaded updates for my Sony Bravia LCD TV. When I purchased it from Best Buy I was told that it would be BD-Live capable with future firmware updates and the manufacturer's description clearly promised this too but alas it seem like a bogus claim. Another thing is that it sometimes 'forgets' where it stopped playback and starts from the beginnning unlike my regular Sony RDR-VX560 1080p Tunerless DVD Recorder/VHS Combo Player which always starts from where it stopped the last time. Minor gripe

So if you're buying this for playback of regular movies then go ahead but if you plan on viewing BD Live contents over the web try another model.

Sony BDP-S350 vs. Panasonic DMP-BD30K
Sony BDP-S350 vs. Panasonic DMP-BD30K: I HAVE HAD EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PLAYER SINCE LATE 2008. GREAT UPGRADE CONVERSION AND DOESN'T TAKE LONG TO LOAD.

Stopped playing Bluray discs after firmware update
The unit worked fine for 13 months (12 month warranty of course). I decided to upgrade to firmware v20 to maybe get some additional features/functionality. Now when I put in a Blueray disc, the player says "unknown". I spent 2 hrs on the phone with Sony to no avail. Now I have an overpriced DVD only player!
Sony just lost a loyal customer.

Better than expected
I bought this computer primarily to use at school for taking notes and writing papers, but I have been using it for pretty much everything since I got it. It's faster than I expected (faster than my expensive Piece of C*** HP tablet), but then one of the first things I did when I bought this computer was delete all the unnecessary bloatware. It's light enough that when I drop it in my backpack I don't really notice it, and the battery lasts a good 5 hours, sometimes more, which is astonishing since it's adveritised as good for 2.5. The keyboard was a little strange at first, but now that I'm used to it, my typing has become much faster and more accurate on it's smaller keys. I bought the copper brown, which is a nice, understated but interesting brown (it's almost the color of cola, or coffee with a sheen). My only real complaint is that the speakers are underneath the front bottom edge of the computer, so if you are using it as a laptop the sound is muffled. Oh, and also the screen has a fairly large plastic border... I'm sure there's some mechanical reason for that, but other computers this size have smaller borders with larger screens, and thus are the same total size. I mean, I bought the 8.9 because I wanted a smaller computer, not a smaller screen.

All in all this is a great little computer. Fits perfectly on those tiny college desks with room to spare, hasn't crashed once in the month I've had it, and it's faster by virtue of XP rather than Vista (I imagine it'll be even faster once I dump XP entirely and load up Linux). Another interesting note, I was sitting near a girl with a new Eee PC a couple days ago, and we started up at the same time. By the time hers was loaded and ready, I was already knee deep in note-taking and had three other programs open and running. Why, why Acer, did you have to discontinue this terrific little laptop?? Even my SO, who's a bloodthirsty Mac user, likes this computer.

Acer makes the worst laptops
I have had this for a while now, so i really know the scoop:
here is my story:
After about 2 days, the computer kept shuting off randomly
After a week my fan was making rediculously loud sounds, so i had to send it back which acer made ME pay for return shipping
after a few months i was getting blue screens, and random freezing (after about 5 minutes of use)

ACER=crap

Still Reliable After 15 Months of Daily Use
Awesome little workhorse of a netbook and still going strong after 15 months of daily use. The light weight and small size is great for taking it everywhere I go. When I need more display room for my work, it's a snap to connect the Aspire One to a large size monitor using the VGA port. Quiet fan and cool running, long lasting battery. Keep the temp files and reg clean and it will continue to run as fast as the first day it booted up. The price has dropped and I'll be buying more Aspire Ones for my home network.

BUYER BEWARE; AFTER A YEAR OF USE, IT JUST DIED!!!!!
I loved and used this computer for a year. I took care of it very well and always used it on hard surfaces such as desks; however, after a year of ranting and raving about how great this computer is, it JUST DIED on me. It won't turn on, and it doesn't work. I have replaced the battery thinking that the battery might had dies, and yet again nothing!! It essentially has been bricked. Acer didn't want to help me because it died the day after the year warranty had expired. I hate them!!

DO NOT BUY IT!! YOU WILL LOVE IT, BUT THEN IT'LL JUST DIE ON YOU AND YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!

I will never buy a netbook ever again.

Buyer beware, they are cheap for a reason!!

30 days not enough
I bought this item in Septmeber, today is Christmas, and it just broke, no refund no nothing.
