Horrible Unit for Dubbing
Like most, I chose this unit because of price. We got it to archive all of our home videos onto DVD. Several of our tapes have pause or stop points, and aren't continuous recordings. If there is even one millisecond of snow at any of these stop points, the dubbing stops with an error message, stating that the tape is copy protected. I have thrown away more DVD-R discs than I can count. A very disappointing unit.

Good product.
I have bought Toshiba in the past, and once again I am very satisfied with their product. I purchased a refurbished model, so it didn't come with a manual. Lucky for me they are available online, so it wasn't really an issue. I haven't had much of a chance to use the recording feature, but I tested the picture quality of the DVD and VHS, and both were very clear.

AND now for the resolution to this problem, for a mere Toshiba will replace the unit since it is no longer under a 90 day labor warranty. So, I have a unit that has never been used to record, only watch DVDs on, and it was smoking, where there is smoke there is fire, yes? And they want me to throw another at it. I don't think so. Like I stated before, I will NEVER purchase another Toshiba product again. Can you say product liability? What if I had not been in the room when this player started smoking? What if I had left the house????
Obviously Toshiba does not stand by their products. So it was a 7 lesson, not a 7 lesson.


I unplugged this unit (which I might have used 7-8 months) while away on vacation for 2 weeks. Upon my return I plug it back in. Went to use it about a week later and it will not turn on with the remote. I turn the unit on using the power switch it stays on for approximately 6 seconds then turns off. I try again, it turns off. I read the manual and it mentions something about the timer, so I try again. The unit will not stay on long enough to use the remote to change the setting.
Then I smell SMOKE!!!!!!!!!! After unplugging this unit and opening the windows the smoke eventually clears. Do I pay the labor rate plus shipping to send it back? Doubtful.

This is the 2nd Toshiba DVD player that I've had that has died before a year has passed. I will NEVER purchase this brand again.

It worked great for 10 months, then broke. They're repair fees are ridiculous, I'm just going to go buy another brand. At that price I want more than 10 months out of it.

DONT BUY FROM SUPERFAST !!!
I never was able to use the DVD recorder. I ordered a used one from SuperFast and it arrived with a AA Battery crammed in the VHS side of the machine and the machine would not work. When I contacted them to return it. I was told no problems, but not given an address or instructions for its return. So when I recontacted them. I received a message telling me they were closed for vacation until July 30, 2009. So I contacted them 1st week of August and now they have blown me off. SUPERFAST IS A RIP OFF!! AND SHAME ON AMAZON FOR NOT HELPING GET MY MONEY BACK FROM THESE ROGUE VENDORS!!!

Flip Ulta Series Camcorder
Pretty easy to use. Don't turn the camera sideways to film. Pain to download to save to computer...The size makes it very easy for traveling. It does an hour worth of taping. Surprised how well it works in low lighting. Sound is pretty good also. Great cheap camcorder for just around the house and party type events.

THIS THING NEVER WORKED
Flip sent me 3 camcorders, none would record when I pressed the red record button. Amazon ( a great company) finally had to return my money. Flip refused to send me a refund. Thanks to Amazon I got my money back. I would not use a flip if they gave me one.

Fun for travel
I took this with me on a trip to Europe last year and it worked great! The picture quality and sound are pretty good, but I wish it had been a tad smaller. (Note - there is a smaller version Flip Mino Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black), but the Ultra was recommended to me as having better quality.)

Solid product, but build quality could be much better
Video Quality: Obviously, a big factor that people worry about is video quality. The video quality of this camera is pretty nice, especially for the price that I paid. However, it is a bit washed out (especially indoors). 36/40

Audio Quality: The mic on this is also pretty nice, but it is a bit muffled. The mic on this is also pretty prone to wind noise. All else considered, the audio is still fairly crisp and clear. 17/20

Memory: While memory consumption is extremely efficient on this camera, better than you would find on most digital cameras that shoot in standard definition, the memory is completely non-expandable. The memory expandability is a pretty big factor when you only have a fairly limited amount of memory to work with. 14/20

Durability: Upon first impression, this camera does NOT feel very well built. Not to mention that it broke after a fall from chest height. 6/20

Features: This camera has what you need, but the zoom sucks (2x optical) and the features are very basic (no macro). 5/10

Portability: This camera is reasonably portable, it will fit in most pockets, but it is slightly bigger than your average digital camera. 8.5/10

Battery: The battery life on this is pretty nice, you will rarely have to change batteries, but the fact that this uses AA batteries is a slight negative point; however, on field replacement can be seen as an advantage. 9/10

Aesthetics: It's not an eyesore to look at, but its Fisher Price-like look isn't necessarily attractive. 2.5/10

Overall: 73% (3.5/5)

Summary: Overall, this is a good product for freelance videographers. However, I would not recommend it for anybody else or if you need a camera that can take abuse. If you need a product like this but with better build quality, I would suggest the similarly priced Kodak Zi6, which shoots in 720p HD.

FLIP VIDEO DOES NOT LAST LONG
At first I loved my FLIP upon receiving it as a Christmas gift in 2008 - not even one year ago. Went to use it recently and the camera is FROZEN - this must happen often because it is on the Q and A of frequently asked questions. I email the support staff at FLIP and they instructed me to remove all batteries from camera for 48 - 72 to see if Camera would automatically reset. Batteries have been out for a little over 72 hours, camera still frozen. FLIP support told me that because it is over 90 days ther is nothing they can do. This viedo camera, although small and portable, is nothing more than a disposable video camera that won't last long. I personally feel whenyou buy something like this the expectation is that it will last a few years at least. Would not recommend.

Malfunctioning screen and horrible customer service
I really wanted to like this camera, but after the screen started malfunctioning on me after two months, I am horribly disappointed. The worst part of all this? Over a whole month of emailing and calling Customer Service to get them to send me a replacement. After all this time, I got someone at linksys wanting a copy of my receipt from amazon. This is the worst customer service ever. I will never buy another Flip product again.

Expected video to be meh, but it is awesome
Well worth the money, perfect mini cam if you're going to have a double team your friends ex and you don't want her to know.

FLIP
The Flip Camera is a great buy. My only gripe is that it was bumped while plugged in the second day I had it and the USB cracked. It still works, but we had to bend it back into place. I called to see how/where I could get it repaired and I was told that the USB can not be repaired, I'd have to buy a connector chord if it didn't work. That stinks. Nevertheless we got it to work, and the camera quality is great and easy to use.

Very handy and easy to share videos
We are loving Flip, just slip in ur pocket and shoot away. And very easy to share videos(except takes a while to upload to You Tube from Flip software).

The low light video quality and zoom range could take some improvement. Overall like the video quality. We use it a lot to capture my 3yr old's activities and things they do.

Flip that doesn't work
The Flip Nano is a poor quality product that can fail at any time. The manufacturer is very poor on coverage. Recommend that if you buy take extended warranty.
